Bassnectar is one of the longest standing and most respected artists in American electronic dance music, often referred to simply as the EDM scene. He is the original long hair behind the tables, having been in the game well before most of his contemporaries and amassing an epic fan base with over 250k tickets sold to his solo shows alone in 2011. His art brazenly oversteps the bounds of contemporary EDM, pulling from a dynamic array of source material and attracting lovers of all genres, from dubstep to metal, punk rock, hip hop, and all forms of EDM (drum & bass, trip hop, etc.) and beyond. His art is more than just an auditory experience; it serves to evoke all human senses with live shows that feature unparalleled light shows and awe-inspiring visual queues. Bassnectar intends to not only foster its own community of loyal Bass Heads, but also contribute to the global community at large through charity and social change. In 2011 one dollar from every ticket sold was given to a non-profit. This ended with a check for over $200,000 being written to Air Traffic Control (ATC), which assists artists in making positive social change.

"What I'm into at the moment", says Calvin Harris, "is the idea of stadium dance. Playing football stadiums with massive riffs, big hands-in-the-air rave anthems. The whole "minimal" thing has passed, for me." A bold ambition, but such boldness is justifiable, coming from a man who ascended from the bedroom to the big time in the blink of an eye. At least, that's how it appeared from the outside, back there in 2007. He may have barely turned 23 when he first hit the charts, but Calvin Harris had been making music, legend has it, since the age of 15 on an old Amiga computer in the Scottish town of Dumfries, when he wasn't stacking shelves at the local Marks & Spencer. "It seems like I came from nowhere" Harris admits, "but it didn't feel like that for me. I had a successful record after having lots of unsuccessful records…"

"No longer is it a crime to mash a hip-hop acappella into a techno track. In this arena, A-Trak, aka Alain Macklovitch, leads the pack. The 27 year-old Montreal native rides the line between hip-hop and electronic beats in a refreshing hybrid of everything ass-shaking." (BPM Magazine, issue 86)

Very few DJs can jump from club sets to high-profile festival performances, to Kanye West's larger-than-life stadium shows with ease. In today's DJ culture, A-Trak holds a truly unique place. He and partner Nick Catchdubs founded America's most trendsetting new label, Fool's Gold, launching the careers of artists such as Kid Sister and Kid Cudi. Fool's Gold's mission to merge all aspects of club music was already outlined in Trizzy's original mix tape manifesto, Dirty South Dance (2007), which set the tone for his own production. He is now one of the most sought-after remixers in electronic music, and his remixes for the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Boys Noize have become undeniable mainstays in DJ sets the world over. 2009 saw the release of two critically acclaimed DJ mixes, Infinity +1 and Fabriclive 45, as well as the birth of Duck Sauce, his collaboration with Armand Van Helden. The duo's radio smash "aNYway" cemented itself as the dance anthem of the year, A-Trak's first true chart-topper with two videos in international rotation and across-the-board support from Pete Tong to Busy P, David Guetta to 2manydjs.

Fist in the air and unmistakable locks at large, Tommy Trash is not your stereotypical Dance icon. With an armoury of his own carefully created anthems, this Australian club grinder has thrown to one side the clean-shaven image of EDM idols. Without a hint of compromise where quality is concerned, 2012 is proving a landmark year for the thunder from down under.

Keys N Krates formed in 2008 out of a desire to do something different. They wanted to take the remix/electronic sound out of the studio and onto the stage, creating a new live electronica experience. The Toronto-based trio – comprised of the high-energy Adam Tune on drums, synth-master David Matisse on keys, and internationally award-winning Jr. Flo on turntables – began by locking themselves in a rehearsal room for six months to create and finesse their unique sound and identity.

Most DJ/producers don't crack into the DJMag Top 100 before the age of 30. Most of them don't shun major label attention. Most of them don't have them don't have the balls to call out the scene that they belong to when it's failing to deliver the goods. And some don't even produce 'their' own tracks. Gareth Emery, with his potent blend of trance, house, electro and techno, however, is not your average major league artist.

He was a prodigious talent in his childhood, teaching himself to play the piano from the age of 4, and continuing his invaluable classical education until he began playing guitar in an indie band at 15. Neither of these were false starts for his eventual electronic conversion; instead, both paths giving him essential experience and understanding of music and songwriting and how to convey emotion through his sounds. His baptism of fire came on a chance trance trip to Ibiza in 1998, which was followed by three years of learning the machinations of electronic music making. At the age of 22, he created a track on a laptop while on holiday in France. That track was the instant classic Mistral; a stunning debut which soon had unsuspecting pundits and clubbers alike eating out of his hands. From here onwards his career ascent was impressively - and deservedly – rapid.

A lot has happened since LA Riots introduced a bawdy blend of Indie Rock, Alt Dance & Electro music to the world in 2007. Formed by Daniel Linton and John O'Brien on the 15th anniversary of the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, the group was named as a reflection of their aggressive and rebellious sound. An attitude not commonly found in Electronic Dance at the time, it differentiated them from the worldwid e DJ pack. However it was taken; their approach achieved the group multiple successes early on, including becoming North American tour support for MSTRKRFT and the Bloody Beetroots in 2008. That same year they landed on the lineup of Australia’s Global Gathering Festival alongside Kraftwerk, Mark Ronson and DJ Sasha, exposing them to a global audience.

When drawing from the right pool of inspiration, sometimes the right mixture of sounds can come together and make something new. Possibly something hard to put one name on. Today people like to jump on the next genre bandwagon, and intentionally make music that fits one genre. SuperVision is not about one sound. Instead it is about many sounds brought together with an approach that delivers a stylistic sound design that isn't classified with one or two words. It is a sound that you can count on evolving without departing from what makes it unique.

Electronic duo Coyote Kisses has been mesmerizing listeners worldwide with their explosive new sound and prolific compositional technique. In a scene full of cookie cutter complextro producers and "womp womp" brosteppers, Coyote Kisses' intrinsic musicality is more than just refreshing. It's awe inspiring. Comprised of two life long friends from Lakeland, Florida, the pair had their first success with "Acid Wolfpack". The song hit Hype Machine's coveted #1 spot its first day out and was soon picked up for re-release on their debut EP with Burn the Fire Records. The EP hit Beatport's Top Ten Releases after only two days on sale.

The White Panda formed when two boyhood friends discovered they had independently embarked on mashup careers in college. Chicago-based Procrast (Tom Evans) first blended Rick Astley snippets with 2 Live Crew grooves as a way to avoid productive activity in 2008, while DJ Griffi (Dan Griffith) embarked on the same mission, for a similar purpose, in L.A. Their combined effort, the White Panda, launched in 2009 with a single that topped internet radio charts days later.

Having emerged from a small and local Yorkshire scene a few years ago, DJ, producer, promoter, presenter and label boss Doorly had a great year in 2011. Not only did he undertake a nine-month tour of the planet, but so too did he play almost every club on the island of Ibiza (his summer home for the last 5 years), act as tour DJ for r&b megastar Usher and continue his close relationship as reside nt, host and frontman with the illustrious Ibiza Rocks. It’s clear to see, then, that what separates this man from the crowd is his ability to play – and fit in with – any line-up of talent no matter the style of music.

Afrolicious has established itself as both one of the most legendary weekly parties in San Francisco, and of the top live/electronic bands on the scene. Started as a weekly dance party featuring DJ's and brothers Pleasuremaker and Señor Oz alongside percussionists, MC's and horn players, and an amazing crowd from day one. Over the years it has evolved as founding DJ/Producer Pleausremaker (Joe McGuire) alongside brother Señor Oz (Oz McGuire) hooked up with some of the most exciting personalities in the Bay Area music scene and started writing original music under the alias Afrolicious. Around 2010 the live Pleasuremaker band started including some of this new 'Afrolicious' material and added more of the percussionists and vocalists from the weekly party to form what is now the Afrolicious band. Between their weekly party and sound system shows that involve the brothers DJing alongside live percussion, they also have a 8-12 piece live band that emphasizes the organic elements, instrumentation, and energy of a live ensemble combined with club heavy beats and textures the weekly party has come to be known for.
